Macros for drop down menu to update from external data connections?

Hi guys,

I have an excel workbook that I need to manually update monthly. I have a drop down menu with multiple variables, so I need to go through every possible combination of the data. For each combination, the data values are updated from external data connections.

I have tried to record a macros of this process to save myself time, but the macros is so quick that it doesn't allow time for the data to be updated. Is there a way to get around this? Any help is greatly appreciated!
