Hello,
I am currently running into issues with updating my master spreadsheet that have several files with Power Queries referencing the master spreadsheet. Every time I try to update the master spreadsheet I get an error message saying that someone is using a file that is referencing the master spreadsheet so I have to ask several coworkers to close their spreadsheets before I can save a new master spreadsheet. This is very annoying having to track down someone to close their spreadsheet. Is there a work around for this?

Excel Facts

Ambidextrous Undo
Undo last command with Ctrl+Z or Alt+Backspace. If you use the Undo icon in the QAT, open the drop-down arrow to undo up to 100 steps.
Excel was not designed to have more than one user at a time accessing a workbook.

You could put macro code in the workbook that monitors for activity. If activity is absent for X seconds, the macro will automatically close the workbook to allow
others access.
