I have a formula where I wish to calculate 2.25% of the base number, but if the result exceeds £12.50, I wish the cell to show a maximum value of £12.50. The image below will explain

Try this -

=IF(Base*2.25%>12.5,12.5,Base*2.25%)

Simple

How about

=MIN(12.5,A2*B2)

You could try this :

=IF(B3+(b3*C3)>12.5,12.5, else b3+(B3*C3))

assuming B3 = base value, c3 = 2.25%

=MIN(12.45,A2*B2)

With MIN Function it has to be -

=MIN(12.5,A2*B2)
