My formula for the MID function gives me a result, but it does not display the result in the cell. How do I get it to display the result?

=MID(D2,7,25)

I am trying to delete some leading text in a column with about 500 rows, is there an easier way?

Thanks,

CHuck

I want to give Mark and RIKRAK a big thanks! You guys saved me a lot of manual formatting!

To answer your question Mark, the software company that we are working with uses the ' to "comment" out cells that have numbers and text, otherwise their formatting would cause errors ( I guess it would not know whether it had text or numbers)

Thanks Again Guys!

Chuck

Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
If you upload a tab-delimited text file to your database then rikrak's formatting suggestion will work just fine. You may want to extend the custom number format to place an apostrophe before numeric values as well...
