Ever since we went to Excel 2016, I've had an issue with this. I have multiple workbooks open but minimized; when I open a new workbook, all of the minimized ones get maximized again. This is a super waste of my time having to minimize them all again. Any suggestions?

Do you hate GETPIVOTDATA?
Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
If you dont want it to re-max, maybe open your workbooks in separate sessions. Hold Alt Key, right-click the Excel Icon and on launching an existing workbook or clean excel view you get the question "Do you want to open a new instance of Excel?". The advantage is if you have long macros running you can work in another workbook.

I've found that the supposed 'background' execution of query processes still locks up my mouse and keyboard, so that was 2 birds with 1 stone.
