Multiple sorts in pivot table

On a regular excel spreadsheet, we can tell when multiple columns have been sorted in a certain order. For example, let's say one column contains labels and another contains amounts. In this case, we can sort by amount descending and then label ascending to see biggest to smallest within each labeled category. This is obviously very helpful. It's a basic function.

This doesn't happen with pivot tables. Evidence of a sort made in one column vanishes when a sort is made using another column. It's much tougher to get a feel for the information in the pivot table.

Is there a setting to change? I am using a Mac for this but have many years of experience using Excel on Windows also.
