I need some help. I have a spreadsheet Attendance 2022 . It turns colors correctly but I'm having a problem with getting the letter to change. Example I have it turn red when a p is entered in. I need to have it on another tab called points

ts each letter stands for a different point level. And i need it to total it . The x should total 3 points for each time an x is there Any help would be appreciated.

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
here's a simple solution for you. in it you can give each letter code a value
---------------
Book1
ABCDEFGHIJ
210.5lppxxxpp
318xxxxxxxp
43plpplppp
54.5pplppppx
69ppxpxpxp
712pxpxpxpx
Sheet1
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
A2:A7A2=SUM(COUNTIF(C2:K2,"x")*3,COUNTIF(C2:K2,"l")*1.5)

Assuming you only have a short list of items you want allowed in those cells, set them up using a Data Validation list.
Go to the Data tab, at the bottom of the Data Tools section select Data Validation. It looks like the values you're using are "l, p, x, exec". That's the most direct, but would require setting the entire row of input cells like that - which you can do by selecting them first.
The other way would be to adjust your conditional format formula (assuming you're using that), and use something like "=SEARCH(D$3,"p")" which would return true for either "P" or "p" as SEARCH is NOT case sensitive.
Personally I'd go with the Data Validation option to keep the data consistent.
