ODBC / Shared File on a network Question

I have a file on a netowk that has an ODBC sql feed set up.

When I choose to share the file, the "REFRESH DATA" icon is shaded out - thus meaning the user can not refresh on demand.

Im using excel 2003 is there a route round this?
