Office 2011 Excel use of Memory

Is there anyway to get this version of excel to use more memory? I have 8GB available but it seems to only use 1 GB for processing.

Do you hate GETPIVOTDATA?
Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
