if I copy data from any random spot (excel sheet, web page, word...) and paste it into excel, it is only allowing me to paste it as a picuture. not normal text to fill the boxes.

a litttle while back i had issues with it not showing the paste options and started poking around (have no idea where) and now it will only paste as a picture - even paste special only shows picture options.

any ideas of how to correct whatever option I selected or unselected?

Well, there are 3 option under the standard excel options button. Maybe one of those will do it?

Click on the windows button in the Top Left corner of the program.

At the bottom of the menu that pops up there are two boxs. Click on "Excel Options"

In the left hand menu select "Advanced"

The 2nd category down is "Cut, Copy, and Paste"

Normally, All 3 should have checks in the boxes.
