I created a Personal workbook for a co-worker and placed it in his XLSTART directory. When Excel starts though it actually opens Personal.xls as an active worksheet. On my machine I get a new "Book1".
Or record a macro for the first time and select "store macro personal macro workbook" - let Excel create the workbook (just save when you close the application).
