PERSONAL.XLS

Everytime I open more then one new excel workbook, i get the message saying

PERSONAL.XLS is locked for editing ??


Any ideas ?

Hi

Sounds like a new instance of Excel is opening up each time and loading Personal.xls (which is already open in your first instance) hence you are getting this message. When you open a second workbook, is it in a standalone Excel? ie If you click on Window, do you see all your workbooks listed or just the new one?

I open up the stand alone excel and it does just show that one in the window..............thanks for looking at all my excel issues

Again, I'm not sure why that would be happening I'm afraid. I wonder if it might be something to do with the Windows Registry? Potentially, using step 2 in the following link might help:

This is a painless process and shouldn't cause you any trouble, even if it doesn't work.
