personal.xlsb frequently crashes Excel 2007 SP2

I have a relatively simple personal.xlsb that frequently (estimate 1 in 10 times) causes Excel to crash on startup. Excel prompts me to disable it but if I say no it generally loads fine on the second attempt. What's confusing is that: the personal.xlsb compiles fine, it is really a simple file with no complex functions (5 modules, less than 10 functions in each), and it is intermittent. I have tried copying the code in the modules to a new file but get the same problem.

Has anyone else seen this and solved it? Any other troubleshooting tips? I use a copy of the same personal.xlsb file with Excel 2010 on another machine and don't have this issue.

Thank You

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
This happens to me a lot too, and I am not sure why.

One thing I have noticed, is that it seems to happen most frequently when I already have an instance of Excel open on my computer and I go to open a second instance of Excel. Don't know if that has anything to do with it...

By the way, which Operating System are you using?
I am using Excel 2007 on Windows XP.
Just wondering if the OS might have something to do with it...

Just tossing in my two cents. I've never had this problem, and have been running Windows XP and Excel 2007 on a couple computers. One computer was a Thin Client (dummy terminal), and this current computer is a dedicated tower with its own processor/harddrive/etc.

I also run Excel 2007 on a Windows 7 64 bit computer, and I haven't had it crash yet.

Try downloading and running AppsPro CodeCleaner on the project in Personal.

Sorry I spoke too soon. It seems to work a few times but now it's back to normal crashing behavior on startup. Any other suggestions? Same file seems to work fine in Excel 2010 so is this a 2007 problem?
