Here the dates are not shown here in proper order. Please suggest what should i do so that the pivot starts from 2 july 2013 and not 11 July 2013.
Any help would be much appreciated.

p.s the first column is formatted as a date column.

Thank you,
Aziz

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
Welcome to MrExcel.

Are you sure that your dates are serial dates not text? You can use the ISNUMBER function to check (TRUE for a serial date, FALSE for text).

Hello Andrew,
Thank you for your reply, appreciate it.
I used ISNUMBER function and the result was false. Can you suggest how should i make it date, though is shows it is formatted as date. Actually i am putting the data in the sheet through code i.e.I have a datatable with first column as date and putting those values in a predefined template (where first column is set as date). After inserting the values the pivots are created and there it get messed up.

Please advise as how i can build the pivots with sorted date.

Many thanks!

What code are you using to enter the dates?

For conversion you can use Data|Text To Columns, checking Date MDY at Step 3 of the Wizard.
