Pivot Table with multiple ranges

Hi
I've created a pivot table from mutliple sheets (all in the same excel spreadsheet). I used the get external data option and created a sql union query. All works fine when the the pivot table is in a different spreadsheet to the mutliple ranges. However when I copied the the pivot table into the spreadsheet with the multiple ranges and refreshed it, all the values went to zero. Any ideas as to what's causing this ?
