I have a number of sheets that I need to adjust formatting to highlight rows when a cell in a column is not blank.
When I enter the formula: =$N5<>"" it doesn't apply the formatting. I have to go back and edit the rule because now it looks like this: ="$N5<>"""". So I remove the superfluous quotation marks, click OK and then it works. I don't understand why it's doing this and am hoping someone can enlighten me. :) Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I have a lot of sheets to go through and it would be nice not to have to go back each time to edit.

Thanks much in advance.

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
It sounds as though you are not putting the = sign at the start of the formula.

I'm definitely putting it in.

Edit. So the weird thing is, as soon as I posted, now it works so I'm glad but still not sure what was going on. Thanks anyway Fluff. :)
