Hi,

Based on Mr. Excel's YouTube video showing how to create a random non-repeating letter grid I was wondering if anyone could help me create a random single letter or number grid for 26 letters of the alphabet by the number 0-9

Example: say A-Z are the columns and 0-9 are the rows and then I can generate a random letter or number (I would like the random generation to include both random letters A-Z and numbers 0-9) and non-repeating if possible.

I am an Excel novice and have a very specific use for this to create a secret number code corresponding to pricing. The non-repeat is not required but random is.

Thank you very much for any and all assistance.

Thank you very much for doing what you can to assist. I have been perplexed with this issue for quite some time and when I came across the YouTube video of Mr. Excel I thought that something similar would be possible. Thank you for your help and replies!

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
Likely nothing more than 10000 but at 1000 I am sure I could come up with a way to make it exponential.

I probably misunderstood your question. with the grid you first sent with 2 digits I would be able to easily go up to $999. Do you see where I am coming from? Can you elaborate on your question since based on what I just stated my minimum using your example sent would be 999

Considering that almost all my coins or most peoples probably would be in dollar increments and perhaps down to 50 cents, yours would work but might be hard to keep track of in terms of accuracy. Although I can see it as being complex and random. hmmm

Plus giving you my example of a coin from Denmark, thus using the D column, I could not use your latest example. Your first one was good but instead of 2 values just 1 value and that being either a letter or a number. And if capitals and lower case could be included, I think that would be great.

Again, how about you provide an example of what you want, and how you would use it.

I actually thought that I have given numerous examples since you first asked. I apologize if I have not been more clear.

Again, if I coin was from Denmark and I paid $125 for it, I want to place a code on the coin flip that would aloow me to know what I paid, in this case, $125 but not to allow anyone else to know what I paid for it.

In the spreadsheet I envision, I would go to the D column and down to the 1 row and pick the letter or number then D2 for that letter or number and then to D5 for that letter or number.

so as an example, $125 could be H2x if those happened to be in the corresponding cells.

Same thing for a coin from the United States that cost me $350
Go to the U column and do the same process as I did with the Denmark coin.

Again, I apologize for not being clearer and I hope I have been concise enough to make my thoughts clear this time. Does what I have explained make sense to you? It is rather difficult to explain something sometimes as I am sure you are aware.

Thank you again for your help.

This is just a Just a partial example, the complete alphabet would go across the top. In this case, a coin from Denmark where my purchase price was $215 would be coded as D2 D1 D5 or 71w. I would use 1 instance for some time but the random generation would assist with a given collection or set for example. I would merely need to save any given spreadsheet with an identifier of some type.
