Reminder e-mail message triggered by TODAY () update

Can anyone help me with this one?
I want an automated reminder e-mail to go automatically to a specified e-mail address if a specified condition (expiry date) is met in a particular cell in an Excel spreadsheet even if the file is not open. Is this possible in Excel?

Hi Pondman,

No, it isn't possible because a non-running process (Excel) can't check a condition or send an email. However, when Excel IS running it can send an email that is flagged to not be delivered before a certain date and time, so you could send the message earlier when Excel is open but defer its delivery until the desired date/time.

If you are using Outlook as your email client, see the Outlook helps under the topic "delay delivery of a message." You should be able to invoke this when sending the email from Excel via Automation. If you are not familiar with Automation see the Excel and/or Outlook help under the topic "Understanding Automation."

You are right, I am not familiar with Automation and I can't find the help topic "Understanding Automation". If it involves VB programming I'm stuffed anyway but thanks again.

Hi again pondman,

Yes, I forgot to mention that these help topics are in the VBA helps, not the Excel or Outlook helps. However, using Automation does not require very much VBA knowledge, and there are some examples in the helps that show how you can "do Outlook things" from Excel.
