In column A, starting with A10 down, I have cells with an "X" and cells with a "Q". May have cells with other values. Need to replace the non-blank and non "Q" cells with consecutive numbers, all the way to the last non-blank cell.

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
Hi,

Let me know if this fits your need ?

VBA Code:
Sub work()

Dim lastrow, x, count As Long

lastrow = ActiveSheet.Cells(Rows.count, 1).End(xlUp).Row
count = 1

For x = 10 To lastrow
    If Cells(x, 1) <> "" And Cells(x, 1) <> "Q" Then
        Cells(x, 1) = count
        count = count + 1
    End If
Next x

End Sub
