Hi there, I can't believe that I am asking this because I can't figure it out - its been a very long day at the computer screen so I think I am having a brain freeze....

I am trying to find the percentage from the sum from a series of cells. The returned value of these cells is in A1. "67" would in effect be 100%

So I have the following formula in D1, and D1 is formatted as percentage.

=(A1/67)

(So if A1 is "67", then D1 should be 100%.)

But what I am getting is reversed. If I have a value of 9 in A1, then D1 is returning 87%, and I want it to return 13%. (making it 67/A1 returns 116% :/ ow ow ow - lol)

I am missing something obvious, I would appreciate anyone's thoughts on what I am missing -thank you

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
I can't see how you could get that result from that formula. Can you put a workbook somewhere (eg OneDrive or Dropbox) so that I can have a look?

I don't know what may be your issue. Reading your comment and what you expect is exactly what I get when I follow what you explained.
Col D is formatted as % TO 2 D/P'S. D1 shows 100.00% with 67 in A1. With 9 in A1 D1 shows 13.43%

Go back and have a rethink.
