RTD data missing when re-opening workbook

I have a workbook with a few RTD links. Since I want to update my data manually I've set the RTD throttleInterval to -1 and force an update by running a macro with the code "Excel.Application.RTD.RefreshData". That seems to work fine.

But when I close and then open my workbook the RTD data is missing and I get N/A values... Of course i want the values to be saved!

- If I open the workbook in an excel viewer I see the values so it must be something that is happening when I open the workbook
- I have set the "save external link values" to true by checking the checkbox
- I have set the "update external links" to false by unchecking the checkbox
- Somehow excel seems to change the update external links setting when opening the workbook again beacues when reopening the checkbox is checked..
- To come around that problem I have opened the workbook from VBA code but I still dont get the RTD values (Workbooks.Open Filename:="C:\test.xls", UpdateLinks:=0)
- I have tried an auto_open macro that sets the updatelinks to 0 but still no sucess
- I don't have any other vba code that should turn the updatelinks setting on...

If I open the workbook without the RTD server (a financial trading software) running, excel starts that software for me.... (even though I've set the trottleInterval to -1)

Any ideas how to get excel to save my RTD values and not update them (until I manually do that by code)??
