Separate, individual data points in large data sheet

Hi,

I have a large data set, ~200,000 rows, 12 columns (for context, columns from left read: student name, school, teacher, exam, result etc..).

With as few formulas as possible, how do I select individual data points about different people from within this data set that are not directly next to each other.

For example, I would like to compare the exam results of different people in the data set.

I have struggled to work out which VLOOKUP or similar formula to use for this. I know there must be a way.

Thanks!

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
Welcome to MrExcel.

Maybe you can use a pivot table, filtering for what you want to see.

Yeah I have been using pivot tables but is there a way to use formulas to pull out data from the pivot tables that links directly to the original raw data?

The piv tables are useful but I still have to manually move things around before I can see the data I need. I am looking for a quicker way to pull data out and use it immediately in a formula.

Thanks
