This driving me mad.

Range("ao1:ao40").Select

I would like to swap the AO40 for AO & value of sheet1 AQ1, as this number changes often.

Any help appriciated.

Try

Code:
Range("AO1:AO" & Sheets("Sheet1").Range("AQ1").Value).Select

But you should not need to select that range to work with it.
