Simplifying an IF(OR function with a range of cells

This may not be a thing but I sure hope it is!

I would to utilize a formula SIMILAR to below, I clearly haven't written is as excel would like as it is not returning results.

J4=IF(OR(d4:k4="x",d4:k4="Y"),"Complete","Active")

So, if ALL of those cells contains one of those two status',the overall status shall be "Complete" but if ANY of those 8 cells contains one of the many, many other status' then the overall status shall be "active"
