Hi,

I’m looking into software options to compile excel into machine code, likely C++.

Does anyone have a software suggestion and what was your experience with it?

Most software options returned in a google search only work for windows. I’m hoping to find one that that can compile for OSX as well.

Thanks

Andrew

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
What will you be compiling? VBA code?

Hey @Dan_W,

I’d like to create a standalone application of a workbook. It’s composed of formula’s and VBA. The goal is to compile it so the IP is binary / obfuscated and thus safe (hopefully) from prying eyes.

Thanks

I've heard of a few (XLCompiler), but I've not used any (except for the VBSEdit compiler). But as it transpires, this is not the first time someone has asked that question on this forum! See here and here.

Hey @Dan_W,

Thanks for the links.

Compiling for Windows has a few options. Translator++ looking like the best option. I however haven’t found anything for compiling for OSX.

Thanks

I can't help you with OSX - my understanding is that VBA on OSX doesn't have as full functionality as it does on Windows - but I genuinely don't know. Alternatively, you could convert it to .NET (VB or C#) and reproduce your VBA code as a DLL file? Again, no idea if this would work on OSX though.

Hey @Dan_W,

Thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated. I’ll look into them.
