Sorting by date with numerous dates

Hi,

I have a large spread sheet with a ton of data on it, sectioned into months. My dilemma is, my supervisors want to see dates when a product was upgraded, but not initally sold. So, for example, we sold something on the 21 of February, but upgraded on March 20th but the way I have it calculated it shows up under February, when it needs to be displayed in March. Is there a formula that can separate based on date into given bins? I've tried IF or COUNT functions, but I cannot separate by date ver well. The upgrading is usually denoted by a "Y" after the date it was upgraded in a previous column.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
Welcome to the Board!

Use Excel Jeanie (link in my sig) to post a few rows of your data.
Are there subtotals in your data? If so, please post one of those rows as well (titles and subtotal values if appropriate)
Which are are the date sold and date (last?) upgraded columns?
I would guess a pivot table would be helpful.
