Sum a column based on value in another column

I have a column that shows what my employer owes me for each client I have seen. I have another column that shows the date that I was paid for that client. I am trying to keep a running total of what is owed to me. So, I want to sum the whole column, only if the paid date in a row is blank. If I have a paid date, I want that row excluded from the calculation.

It will depend which version of Excel you're using.
For anything from 2007 I think you will manage it with a SUMIF() or SUMIFS() formula. Without knowing more details will be difficult to offer a proper solution.

I tried the sumifs. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. This is what it looked like going through the wizard. SUMIFS('Clients Seen'!F2:F120,"'Clients Seen'K2","' '"). Excel told me I had an error.
