Data results measured as A, B, C or D. I am trying to dynamically turn these into a numerical range to run some maths against. (without using a helper column – which might be the easier way)
In laymans
Results from the the example below :
A = 8
B = 6
C = 4
D = 1
I think I am trying to combine SUMIFS & VLOOKUP – which is not working so well. Although I just came across XLOOKUP, currently reading.

Score Table
Thank you for looking.
In laymans
- Count the number of [A|B|C|D] in Table column B, lookup [A|B|C|D] value in score table, score x count = total
Results from the the example below :
A = 8
B = 6
C = 4
D = 1

Table
Control 1 | A |
Control 2 | C |
Control 3 | D |
Control 4 | B |
Control 5 | B |
Control 6 | A |
Control 7 | C |

A | 4 |
B | 3 |
C | 2 |
D | 1 |
