Sum Totals

The attached screenshot shows a spreadsheet showing various expenditures and receipts by date. Each row contains a “Transaction” type, e.g., “Checking”, “Insurance”. I am looking for a formula that will total the amount for each type of Transaction.

Welcome to the Board!

The SUMIF and SUMIFS functions allow you to sum values using criteria like you have described.
The difference is SUMIF only allow one criteria, while SUMIFS allows multiple criteria.
