Good Morning;

I have a column with 10,000 rows. In this column I have Tax Id (99-99999999) and social security number (999-99-9999). Is there any way I can break them up into two seperate columns?

Thanks

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
Good Morning,

Yes, with Data-Text to Columns, select Fixed width and go Next, Move the break line to desired postion and Next, select the data format and Finish.

I tried the suggession. Tax Id is 10 characters and social security is 11 so what this did was move the last digit to the next column. What I really want to do is completely seperate the tax id and the social security number.

I tried it again and I have no problems. You might not have placed the line to signify the column break where it should have been. I don't know that the different columns must have the same number of characters.

Do an Undo and try again.

What exactly is seperating the two values? Is it a comma, space?

Can we confirm exactly how your data is shown in the column?
Is it
99-99999999999-99-9999 or
(99-99999999)(999-99-9999) or
99-99999999,999-99-9999 or
something else?

Edit: Whoops, shammy beat me to it.
