Can anybody suggest the formula to extract the portion of the following string after the last \ (slash) ,

D:\PS\Kalm\Books\Torrent Books\Drawing

i.e. formula should return Drawing

Try this...

=SUBSTITUTE(RIGHT(SUBSTITUTE(A2,"\",REPT("\",255)),255),"\","")

Very similar I know, but there's also:
=TRIM(RIGHT(SUBSTITUTE(A2,"\",REPT(" ",255)),255))


Or if you want to do it manually either with the original data or first copying the data to a new column:

1. Select the column by clicking its heading label.
2. Edit|Replace.. |Find what: *\ | Replace with: leave blank | Options>>|Ensure 'Match entire cell contents' is NOT checked|Replace All
