I am trying to update my Quality control charts with some basic trend analysis. I need to be able to easily track trends in Spike, blank and standard results using excel 2010. Using conditional formatting I have been able to track 7 consectutive increasing or decreasing points:
=AND(O4:O9>O3:O8)
=AND(O4:O9<O3:O8)
</O3:O8)

I would also like to be able to track 9 consecutive points on one side of the mean. In my case the mean is fixed as 0. Therefore, we are looking at 9 consectuive positive or negative numbers. I would like to be able to do this in both a table and in a chart, if possible.

Any help with this is much appreciated.

Sample chart of 9 consecutive points above the mean.

Excel Facts

Pivot Table Drill Down
Double-click any number in a pivot table to create a new report showing all detail rows that make up that number
Above the mean:
=AND(O1:O9>0)

Below the mean:
=AND(O1:O9<0)

Perhaps?
Note: This is an array formula. Use Ctl+Shft+Ent when entering.
