Using a formula to reference another cell

This should be fairly simple but I can't remember how.
Using the formula ="F"&CHOOSE(A1, 1,2,3)
I would like it to return the contents of cells F1, F2 or F3 accordingly. How do I accomplish this? I want it to treat it like I had just entered F1, F2, or F3 returning the corresponding cells contents.

Try: =INDEX(F1:F3,A1)

What version of Excel are you using?
