Hi All,

I am scheduled to take an excel training for beginners in my organization next week. I am looking for some help in designing the training and would like to hear some ideas from you guys.

I am inclined towards something of a show and tell type of a session which begins with recording a macro and goes on to showcase a little more complex ideas.

I would love to hear experience of members who have undertaken similar trainings.

Also, general advise (dos and donts for a trainer, how to be confident) is very much appreciated.

Audience size is 20 odd and duration is 2 hours.

Thanks,

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
Hiya

When I've done training before I've always tried to ensure it's relevant to the audience... and I have done it in groups where they can play with data and do some exercises as we go. I usually use live (sometimes anonymised) data so they can relate it back to their jobs. VBA/Macros is a hard one though. With that size group I might perhaps just use it as a 'showcase' of what's possible and let anyone who is really interested see you separately or in smaller groups?

Just my tuppence.

Regards
/AJ

Hi AJ,

Thanks for sharing your experience, it gave me a lot of insights in planning the training.

This is what was covered in the training:

1. Introduction to VBA (What, why, how)
2. A bit about the macro recorder
3. Demo of the macro recorder
4. Case study Problem

Through the case study we could cover a lot of useful concepts such as Conditional statements (If else), For each loop, object oriented nature of vba.

I would've liked to attach the case, but can't find an option for attachments.
