Hello,

I currently have a line chart in Excel 2010 which documents the level of total charges on specific dates. The reports that these data points are based on is not run on a regular basis, so I am using a Text Axis to capture and display only the specific dates on the X-axis, which are as follows:

X (date) Y (charges)
3/21/15 $1,500
4/15/15 $2,000
4/28/15 $1,800
5/13/15 $1,500
6/01/15 $1,400

I am trying to insert a number of vertical lines in the chart to denote specific events and would like to insert those dates into the X-axis as well without affecting the existing line. For example, I would like to insert a vertical line at 4/25/15 to indicate an additional employee joining the team. Ideally, my existing X axis (containing the values 3/21/15, 4/15/15, etc.) would also contain the 4/25/15 date.

I know how to insert vertical lines using an XY scatter chart, but believe this would mean that I could use the Text axis and would have to display automatically generated dates. I have searched extensively to find a solution to this, but have not found one. Does anyone know a possible workaround here? Any assistance would be immensely helpful. Thanks!

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
