when i create a CSV file in excel i have a problem

like when i create a csv contact file
it wont upload to my email
says please specify a valid file

i tired
aol mail
yahoo mail
hotmail
gmail
mail.com

doesn't work says the same thing am i doing something wrong?
also tried it with open office cal
