What is the correct folder in Win 11 to store add-ins such as xl2bb?

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Here is where I have my copy

C:\Users\alans\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns
That's where it was on my old Win 10 PC, but M$FT keeps moving things around. And I don't seem to an AppData folder anywhere. Should I create one or is there a more serious problem.

@JenniferMurphy see if the code below gives you the location
VBA Code:
Sub FindAppFlder()
MsgBox Application.UserLibraryPath
End Sub

or there is the alternative of putting it in the XLStart folder

You have set Windows to show hidden folders as the AppData folder is hidden by default on all versions of Windows (you would have had to unhide it in your old version at some stage)?

Edit: I see Alan posted at the same time

Make sure that your hidden folders are visible. The sub folder may be hidden.
That was the problem. But now there is another little M$FT gotcha. When I expand the \Users\User folder, the AppData subfolder is listed in the panel on the right, but not among the subfolders under \User on the left. Are they trying to be confusing?

Anyway, is it better to put xl2bb.xlam in C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns or in \XLStart, whereever that is?

Thanks

I put it the \Addins folder and was able to find it in Excel with the Go button in Addins. But after adding it to the list of addins and clicked OK, I get this error:

and then this of possible reasons, none of which are correct:

Have you unblocked the file (Right click, Properties, General and see if you have an unblock checkbox near the bottom) as you have downloaded the file from the internet?

Or you can make the Addins folder a Trusted Folder if it isn't already.

If it is an actual Protected View issue see the link below

\XLStart, whereever that is?
XLStart is normally located....
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

That did it. Thanks.

I don't recall having to do that on my old Win10 PC.

I don't know if it is. Should it be? How can I tell?
