Hi,

I am using a spreadsheet as an effective database for several users.

I want to find out how to ensure that when the database workbook is opened, it doesn't get opened as a read-only file. This occurs if another user is accessing the database.

Is there a way to do this, or an effective work around ??

Thanks,

Matt

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
Code:
Public Sub readonlyTest()
  Dim wkb As Excel.Workbook

  Set wkb = Application.Workbooks.Open("h:\Book1.xlsx")

  If wkb.ReadOnly Then
    Call VBA.MsgBox("Read only", vbCritical)
    ' handle the problem
  End If
End Sub
