XY Scatter Plot - aligning the legend with data series picture

I have created an XY Scatter plot and inserted a picture for each data series rather than using the standard marker. It is essentially a bubble with a number in the middle of each bubble (e.g. a blue circle with a 1 inside). I would like for my legend to show the corresponding colored bubble with the same number (e.g. a blue circle with a 1 inside) and then the description of the data point. I can only get the legend to show the same colored bubble (e.g. blue circle) and the description of the data point, but the number does not appear in the bubble in the legend. I've tried changing the chart type to bubble chart as well. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? Thank you.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the legend in an excel chart to show the same symbol and number (e.g. circle with a number 1 or triangle with a number 2) in the plot area? I can get the legend to show the symbol, but can't seem to get the number to flow through to the legend. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
