Can anyone explain this formula:=MID([@URL],SEARCH("/",[@URL],8),SEARCH("-t*.html",[@URL])-SEARCH("/",[@URL],8))

Hi from York UK...

This formula:

=MID([@URL],SEARCH("/",[@URL],8),SEARCH("-t*.html",[@URL])-SEARCH("/",[@URL],8))

does exactly what i want but i just copied it off the internet. The results of the formula are below:

But why the @URL elements in the formula? Bit confused :(

Excel Facts

Spell Check in Excel
Press F7 to start spell check in Excel. Be careful, by default, Excel does not check Capitalized Werds (whoops)
It's because the formula is in a table & you are looking at a cell in the URL column.

Ah i see, is the alternative to [@URL] a cell reference as in:
=MID([A14],SEARCH("/",[A14],8),SEARCH("-t*.html",[A14])-SEARCH("/",[A14],8))
