I need I drag a simple cell reference through a series of rows AND columns for example...

In cell a1 =m1 b1 =m2 c1=m3
A2 =m4 b2 =m5 c2=m6

When I drag it it obviously drags incorrectly. I also tried making m absolute but it still did not drag correctly.

I just really don't want to go through manually and fill in because I have about 1000 references to link. :/

Do you hate GETPIVOTDATA?
Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off

Try this...

Entered in A1:

=INDEX($M:$M,ROWS(A$1:A1)*3-3+COLUMNS($A1:A1))

Copy across to C1 then down as needed.

Highlight A1 and B1 then type in the formula =M1 press Ctrl + Enter
Now rehighlight both cells and drag down as far as required
