Hi

I have 6 different columns listing different chart of accounts (column headers Level 1, Level 2 etc) and 6 columns that list the position of each chart of accounts (Position 1, Position 2 etc) so I can sort them using the Sort by Column in Power Pivot. Some of the columns work using the sort however others are not working and getting the following error message.

"Cannot sort Level 2 by Position 2 because at least one value in Level 2 has multiple distinct values in Position 2. For example, you can sort [City] by [Region] because there is only one region for each city, but you cannot sort [Region] by [City] because there are multiple cities for each region."

Thanks

Jon

To use sort by column, there must be a 1:1 relationship between the values in both columns. If you get the error you mention, it means that you don't have a 1:1 relationship between the values in both columns.
