What I am trying to do is assign a range of values a name. I have data from a football game such as down & distance, yard line, gain/loss etc..

I want to use a formula to configure "Field Zones" for certain yard lines. For example, when I create a Field Zone collumn to the data I have and create a formula in the cells within the Field Zone collumn, I select the Yard Line Column data first then I need a formula so that when the yard line is -25, the "Field Zone" cell assoicated with -25 displays the name "Open Field Zone (-20 to +21)."

Hope this is not too confusing. Does anybody have a formuala for this? Thanks.

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.

Sounds like you need to create a lookup table and then use a lookup formula.

See if this helps:
