Can I preserve text format of a cell?

When I have one cell equal another, it loses any text formating (such as bold or itallics). For example, cell A1 = ThisIsMyExample

When I make B1=A1 the result is just "ThisIsMyExample", without the formated text. Ideally, I'd like this to also keep any colored fonts.

Excel does not provide that functionality. At best, you could write a macro that replaces the equation with the text of the source cell, and then adjust the formattig appropriately... but not witha simple formula.

You can't return formatting with straight Excel formulas.

What you want to do would require VBA/Macros.
