Ok, so this has probably been posted before, but I can't find it on any google searches because I'm not entirely sure what you would call it...

I need the end user to see a chart of at least 400,000 values (1000x400) simultaneously (and potentially 4M ). This has perplexed me for quite a while and I have since made many various sub-charts. However, I'm turning to this forum for some extra help.

Idealy, I'm thinking the chart would look like a compressed (zoomed out) color map conditional formatting. Of course, each conditionally formatted cell would represent 1 value/pixel of the chart. So far, I've been experimenting with 3D surface plots, but it takes 1 minute to render 100 rows, so I haven't even tried 1000 yet. You could also think of the chart as like a top-down view of a surface chart.

Thanks in advance for ideas,
Bob

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
Sorry, but I forgot to mention that I'm using Excel 2007. I would edit the original post, but I couldn't figure out how.
