I have a spreadsheet with a series of 31 tabs that record test results. Those individual test results are recorded by selecting a value from a pull down menu and clicking on one of six values. The values are either "pass" or "fail".
In the same excel spreadsheet I recap all the pass/fail results from the 31 tabs onto a separate spreadsheet. I was able to accomplish this automatically by entering a series of formulas on the recap sheet that captures the content of each of the results cells. The cell formula is something like ='1'!C27. The values are dynamic.
How do I also layer on a test of the value to fill the cell with a color based on the selected value itself. e.g., if ='1'!C27 in the cell contains the value "fail" I would like the fill color to be red. I was not able to figure this out by looking at page 869 of Bill Jelens book Learn Excel 97 through exel 2007 2nd edition.
