Hi Team,

New to excel but was wondering how you would combine the IF and RIGHT formulas or if there is a better alternative.

For example:

C268 is KW211014A AB

I am trying to get the last two letters in the cell (in this case AB) to be used in cell F268 to make it AB (=RIGHT(C268,3), from there I want it to find the value in a separate table to replace the abbreviation with the full word (e.g. AB becomes As Built, or SO becomes Set Out)

Both Task Abbreviations and Task are named ranges

Or is there a better alternative.

Thanks in advance

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
How about using
Excel Formula:
=VLOOKUP(RIGHT(C268,2),"YOUR TABLE RANGE", "THE TABLE COLUMN NUMBER",0)

Solution
Welcome to the MrExcel board!

Both Task Abbreviations and Task are named ranges
In that case you may be better to use those in your formula so that any change to the named ranges is automatically applied in the formula.

Excel Formula:
=XLOOKUP(RIGHT(C268,2),TaskAbbrev,Task,"")
