Hi,

I don't know if it's possible but I would like to format cells in order to have only the first letter displayed.

For instance, if I enter "AMERICAN" in a cell, I would like to see only "A" but to keep the "AMERICAN" value.

Thanks a lot.

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
The only way this would be possible, was if the characters after the first letter were the same colour text as the background, however, Font Colour effects can not be changed in a Custom Format automatically.

Can you have an adjacent column with =left(cell,1)
