Hello all!

So I am quite new to conditional formatting and the use of VBA Editor in Excel.

I am working on putting together a spread sheet that contains Item numbers and pricing from my works data base and that of our vendors.
I am wanting to have conditional formatting that will highlight a price when it is different than the price directly across from it in the next column. So I have "Our Unit Price" in column D and the vendors "Actual Unit Price" in column E. Is their a way to have a cell in column D be highlighted when it differs from the adjacent cell in column E?

I am using Microsoft Excel 2003.

Thank you for your help! and best regards,

-John

Hi John and Welcome to MrExcel,

I don't have Excel 2003 so the actual prompts might vary slightly, but something like these steps should work....

Select range D:D
from the menubar: Format > Conditional Formatting
from first dropdown, choose "Formula Is"
for the formula, enter:
=$D1<>$E1
click Format > select color to highlight cells > OK > OK

BTW, this is using Excel's built-in Conditional Formatting feature. VBA isn't required, although you can use VBA instead of the CF feature.
