I have a pair of conditional formatting rules which don't work as I expected.

The first rule ("Stop if True" is unchecked) applies to $G$4:$G$7402 and sets the cell background color for dates older than today. This w<today()
<today()
<today()
<today()
orks fine.

The second rule (same range) changes the background color back to normal where this formula is true:</today()
</today()
</today()
</today()
<today()
<today()
<today()
<today()

"=G4.Font.Strikethrough"

</today()
</today()
</today()
</today()
<today()
<today()
<today()
<today()
It doesn't happen and I can't work out why. Can anyone see it?</today()
</today()
</today()
</today()
<today()
<today()
<today()
<today()
</today()
</today()
</today()
</today()

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
Conditional Formatting:
You click to Strikethrough visible icon V. You try!

I use Conditional Formatting as:
Menu Home > Conditional Formatting > New Rule.. > Rule Type: Use a formula to determine which cells to format; Edit the Rule Description: =isText(A1); Click Format.. > Tab Font: Effects: check Strikethrough again, it must visible V on check-in > Ok > Ok.

Formulae (including in CF) cannot detect formats, only values.

And "=G4.Font.Strikethrough" is not a valid formula.

I still don't get it. G4.Font.Strikethrough is a Boolean value, this property is set to true or false. I am trying to conditionally format when it is true. In VBA we can set a condition based on a property value, why not in CF?
I guess it might be simpler to write it in VBA based on changing a cell value.

CF requires a formula that you could use in a worksheet. You can't simply use VBA code (that isn't valid code either BTW).
